Can I transfer my educational materials to another individual?
No
How many days do I have to study the materials and take the exam?
You are required to take the Personal Fitness Trainer proctored exam within 90 days upon receiving your exam eligibility ID.
If I can’t take the exam on time can I file for an extension?
Yes. You can request an extension before the assigned exam expiration date. Please refer to the NESTA Policies page and click on the “Fees” tab at the top of the page.
Extension requests to due medical issues must be provided in writing and a signed physician’s note must be provided. The request will then be reviewed by the NESTA Executive Board. Candidate will be notified by email of the decision. Please download and read the Personal Fitness Trainer Exam Candidate Handbook for details.
Do I get a practice exam with my materials?
Your manual includes “Exam Alerts”, which are questions in each chapter that help you prepare for your exam.
How do I find an exam location?

If I am in the Military can I take this certification?

What is the Personal Fitness Traner Exam Candidate Handbook?
The information in this candidate handbook will provide you with the tools and information you need to take the NESTA Certified Personal Fitness Trainer Exam. It contains information and outlines the exam registration process, candidate eligibility, exam content and preparation, and certification guidelines. How can I schedule my exam?

What materials may I bring into the testing center?
Personal items other than those provided by Prometric will not be allowed into the computer based exam room. No food or drink is allowed into exam room.
How long will it take to get my results?
Upon completion of the exam, you will immediately be given a score of pass or fail. The passing score is answering 70 questions correct out of 125. One of the following instructions will be given:
- If you pass the exam, NESTA will process your certificate and will be mailed to you within 3-4 weeks of passing the exam.
- If you DO NOT pass the exam the student can retake their exam after waiting 30 days following their failed examination attempt. Once 30 days has past the student can purchase a retest by going to the NESTA Policies page and click on the “Fees” tab at the top of the page.
Note: The 30 day waiting period is in accordance with NESTA’s pending accreditation in order to ensure basic level competency through knowledge learned.
To protect the integrity of the exam, exam questions and answers will NOT be available following the exam.
If I don’t pass the exam or do not show up for the exam, can I receive a refund?
No, all testing fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
